Almost Famous

Okay, so the video shoot. It wasn’t completely mortifying; I didn’t puke from nerves or anything, although I did come close on the drive over to Miss Enviable Abs studio, and I did almost make a “wrong turn,” which would surely have made me miss the shoot, and I did almost send her a text to inform her that I had the “Bubonic plaque” making it impossible for me to be interviewed. But no, I princessed up and eventually did get my butt over there… although, I was a tad late, like 15 minutes, and Miss Enviable Abs was getting somewhat worried, and rightfully so given my last blog post. But hey, what can I say, I’m a star now, I’m like buddy buddy with Katie Holmes and Kate Hudson, I can’t possibly be expected to show up on time 😉 Celebrity 101: You MUST be fashionably late! It seems […]

The flip book disorder

Holy freak, what have I gotten myself into. It’s 20 minutes to 11, and I am in total freak out mode. As I should be. In less than 24 hours, I will be in front of a video camera, answering interview questions. What the frick? I am the one who does the interviews – and not in front of a camera. There’s a reason I did NOT go into broadcast journalism. Does the word “uhm” have any meaning for you? Well it does for me! About a month ago, my super fit, B3 girlfriend who has the hottest, most enviable abs I ever did see, asked if I’d be willing to sit for an interview for her blog – all about marathon training. Seems simple enough right. I mean, I’ve trained for a couple marathons, even more half marathons, and have been running for a handful of years now. It’s a topic

Princess + Mr. Sneakers = Oh Happy Day!

“Well hello there Mr. Sneakers, how are you today?“ “Fantastic!“ “Me too!  Want to know why?“ Because after days and weeks of my dear Mr. Sneakers being forced into isolation against his will, and gathering dust in the bike room closet where all the other no-longer used running shoes are stored, breaking my heart with every forlorn howl he made, it all came to an end today. Finally, Mr Sneakers and I (best buddies!) were reunited. And what a reunion it was. I wiped his tears away, laced him up, and together we frolicked in the streets. It took 10 days, 5 of which were spent in bed, 6 movies, half a book, and 4 straight episodes of Tru Blood before I finally crested the sickness hump. My gawd! I was going insane. I was becoming stir crazy, miserable, guilty with lack of exercise, and my nose, oh man, did

Failed reunion

Everything is backwards. The paradigms are shifting. My world is completely off, it’s wrong, it’s not right. While I sit here in front of my computer, on day 6 of no exercise, and my belly expanding at the mere thought of the We Are Waffling Ben and Jerry’s in my freezer, my husband is out running – MY HUSBAND! The man who makes fun of us runners, who turns his nose up at us runners, who is the anti runner! This is just fugged up! After spending the better part of the weekend plus Monday in bed, I was starting to feel better by Tuesday. I still had a gut-bruising incessant cough, but the grodies seemed to all be gone, and so I figured the infectious germs were also gone and that I’d be good to go for work. And I was. For the most part, the day went well. Sure

Head bonks and butt kicks

Wow! Have I ever been neglecting you guys! I knew it had been at least a few days since I last wrote a post, but I had no idea it had been nearly a week – and I’m not even on holidays! It’s not been for lack of things to write about, no, no, quite the opposite. But there has been a lack of time. I know I’ve said it before, but for at least a month now, I’ve really been struggling to balance everything between work, socializing (or lack there of), diabetes, blogging, running/cycling/AJing/pilatesing/trainering, Christmas shopping, birthday shopping, and everything else that’s been going on. And unfortunately, it’s been my social life and the blog that have suffered. My goal for next month: Regain the balance. I totally did this yesterday! TODAY’S RUN: 8:30 a.m. BG before: 14.1 (Yowsers!) Temp. basal: 0 per cent Distance: 3.74 km (plus a
