Top secret running

Ok, seriously – seriously! – why did my hair have to look so smokin’ hot today? Like, I mean, perfect hair Emma Stone hot! The colour glimmered, the style was smooth, every strand perfect (well, aside from the clumps that fell out… but that’s another story!). But today, of all days, are you kidding me?

Today, the day I had pegged to be the start of my new lunch-time running regime.

I’m not gonna lie, the thought did cross my mind to postpone the run for tomorrow, but then I thought what happens if my hair is even prettier tomorrow, and even prettier the next day, do I postpone those runs too? No.

I spent as many moments this morning as I could admiring the beauty of my hair in mirrors, windows, and any other shiny objects I passed by before I snuck out of the office (I felt like I was playing hooky, even though it was lunch!) tied my hair back, and slapped on a hat on.

Shh… top secret running 😉

TODAY’S RUN:

  • 11:45 a.m. BG before: 9.4
  • Temp. basal: none
  • Carbs: none
  • Time: 29:40
  • Distance: 5.59 km
  • Average pace: 5:18 min/km
  • Average cadence: 86 spm
  • 12:45 p.m. BG after: 6.3

And let me just say, it was a good thing I took my morning beauty in like I had. Running 5.5 km in 29 degree weather with the sun hovering right above for 80 per cent of the run, oh man, I was a sweaty mess! My hair and body were both soaked! And while I remembered my face wash, I didn’t remember a cloth or small towel to wipe away the sweat. Hello paper towel! Pretty much, I looked like a drowned rat for the remainder of the day.

But that run, it was exactly what I needed. I chose to start these lunch-hour runs today because a) I’m used to running Mondays and Wednesdays, and b) because Mondays and Wednesdays are my busiest days at work where I’m stuck at my desk for the better part of the day. By breaking my day up with a run, I was able to sort through work problems, recharge my mind and body, and was refreshed and energized full of endorphins to get me through the afternoon. Super successful!

Now I’ve just got to figure out how to cut down on the time it takes to dress in and out of my running gear; that took forever 😀

Glad to hear your lunch-time runs are working out so well!!
It does body AND mind a world of good to break out of the work mode with a vigorous work-out!!
Too bad I didn’t have the cajones to do it while I was in the work mode!! 🙂
