Only in France

When I asked yesterday if there was one race you could do what would it be, I neglected to share with you what my race would be. So, here you are, a list of my dream races.

• Nike Women’s Race, San Francisco, October: Of course I’d love to do this race, what girl wouldn’t with a Tiffany’s necklace waiting for you at the finish line and the beautiful, hilly – I LOVE HILLS! – San Francisco scenery cascading all around you.
• Le Marathon du Médoc, Bordeaux, September: This is a wine-lover’s must. There’s 23 water wine stations, otherwise known as vineyards, on the route, which in addition to the region’s finest wines, also serve breads, cheeses, oysters, steak and other such local delicacies. Only in France.
• Team Diabetes Marathon, Rome, March: Someday I would very much like to do a marathon that raises money for diabetes research and I’d love to do it in the Maratona di Roma, in front of the most expressive, emotional, loving, kissing, hand gesturing, beautifully tongued Italians! Mi Amore!
• Disney’s Princess Half, Florida, February: I’m a princess, what can I say 😉

That’s my wish!

TONIGHT’S PILATES:

  • 6 p.m. BG before: 4.2 (3 sugar tabs)
  • Temp basal: -50 per cent
  • One hour rack, mat, chair
  • 7:30 p.m. BG after: 6.4

Yesterday’s run was another one of those rare perfect runs where everything worked together beautifully. And it was actually kind of shocking, given that I had been complaining to Mario first thing about how my ankle was feeling all tender, and I had been hemming and hawing about even going on  a run. But as soon as I got out there, my feet just kept going and my ankles didn’t feel pain. The tenderness didn’t magically disappear, I knew it was still there, but on the run, it gave me no grief. My blood sugars were perfect too, which also came as a surprise, given that they were threatening both a low and a high before I left the condo. They were  6.4, which is a great number regularly, but before a run, it’s somewhat concerning. So I ate a granola bar that I didn’t calculate any insulin for, and which when I saw my blood sugars rising, I thought for sure they’d soar. But they did no such thing. They just seemed to hover and upon completion were 5.4. I’d love to say it was all perfectly planned that way, but alas, it was just one of those nicely surprising perfect blood sugar/run days.

What makes a run perfect for you?

  1. The perfect run for me is to the fridge and back before the commercial break is over!! Doya think a lifestyle makeover is urgently required!! 🙂 But I hope you have many more “nicely surprising perfect blood sugar/run days.” 🙂

  2. I would LOVE to run in France AND do the Disney Princess half. One day! One day!

Weather, music, and lack of inury makes a run perfect for me.
